Emerald Beach unearths surfing gold

THE gold mine of surfing talent on the Mid North Coast threw up another nugget on Sunday when Kelly Delang emerged from Emerald Beach to share the spoils of Cambo's Ocean and Earth Teenage Rampage in Port Macquarie.

Kelly is seen as one of the future superstars on the circuit and won the blue ribbon 16 years and under championship for girls. She surfed an excellent tournament en-route to a nailbiting final. No more than a tenth of a point separated Kelly from Fiona Casey (South West Rocks), Emily Clapoudis (Port Macquarie) and Ashley Simms (Port Macquarie) in an awesome showdown.

Ranked second on the leader board heading into the last stage, Kelly was able to pull through after trailing Clapoudis leading into the final.
