Alcohol and driving: another death
A WEEKEND of drunken driving on Coffs Coast roads has resulted in one death and several people being injured as police caught six more idiots on our roads.
A 20-year-old Macksville man died early yesterday morning in Scotts Head when a Commodore station wagon he was travelling in lost control and hit a power pole.
The vehicle had left a nearby 21st birthday party at around 4.30am and police believe alcohol was major contributor to the accident.
In Coffs Harbour, police caught a 24-year-old P-plater early yesterday morning in Ocean Parade. The woman was charged with high-range PCA of 0.170 and her licence was cancelled.
And a 41-year-old Dorrigo man will appear in Bellingen Court after he drove with more than three times the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 23-year-old red P-plate driver was issued with a court attendance notice after he was charged with special-range PCA and a 48-year-old Woolgoolga man will appear in court later this month after he was found with a mid-range level on Woolgoolga’s Beach Street at 10.25pm on Saturday.
