Winehouse's ex in court on rape charges

AMY Winehouse's boyfriend Reg Traviss arrived in court on Tuesday (17.07.12) charged with two counts of rape.

The filmmaker - who was dating the 'Rehab' singer at the time of her death in July 2011 - spoke only to confirm his identity during a brief hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

The director - who was dressed in a charcoal grey suit, black trousers, white shirt, and black tie - was bailed to appear before Southwark Crown Court on September 12.

Last month, Reg was formally charged under his full name Reginald, regarding allegations of rape which took place between 29 December 2011 and 1 January 2012.

Rebecca Mundy, a lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service, said in June: ''I have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Reginald Traviss with two counts of rape.

''The alleged offences took place between 29 December 2011 and 1 January 2012.

''The decision was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors.''

The sexual assault was first reported on January 18 and the 35-year-old filmmaker was arrested on April 5 by the Metropolitan Police.

After his April arrest, friends said Reg was shocked and had vowed to fight the allegations.

A pal said: ''He does know the woman who made the report to police and he completely denies the allegation.

''He wants to do everything in his power to fight this.''
