American's buzzer-beater seals win for Breakers

BASKETBALL: Kevin Dillard proved the match-winner for the Breakers as a buzzer-beating basket for the New Zealand side helped it overcome the Bullets in Brisbane 84-82 in the NBL.

The Breakers trailed by as many as 13 points at one stage but American Dillard proved the difference, sinking a two-pointer to seal the victory.

In just his third game for the club, he hit a game-high 28 points with four rebounds and five assists.

"That's what every basketball player dreams of, right there,” Dillard said after the win.

"The game is on the line, the team has the confidence in you to make the shot.

"I'm glad I could pull through.”

The defeat rounded off a miserable day for the Bullets with Adam Gibson adding to a growing injury list.

Gibson did not play in the defeat to the Breakers.

"I am definitely trying to get back, it's a week by week thing,” he said.

"I'm not too sure how big the tear is yet, but fingers crossed we can make a run and get into the finals equation and I will see how I go.”

Round 15 scores: Bullets 82 Breakers 84, 36ers 100 Melbourne United 73, Breakers 92 Kings 74, Hawks 85 Bullets 80, Melbourne United 92 Taipans 85, Wildcats 84 36ers 95
