Alleged vandal charged after causing $100,000 damage
A MAN has been charged and will front court after allegedly causing $100,000 damage to a CBD Gladstone building.
The man allegedly illegally entered the Oaks Grand building on Roseberry St in the late hours of Saturday evening.
The building, expected to reach completion next week, sustained extensive damage to walls and floors through use of fire extinguishers and emergency pumps.
Oaks Grand Gladstone, remains on schedule, despite sustaining extensive damage.
CCTV footage supplied to police clearly identified the alleged vandal.
General manager of sales for Oaks Hotels and Resorts, Daniel Csortan, commented on the incident.
"We are thankful that the damage sustained did not prevent us from launching our new hotel - it's business as usual," he said.
"It is certainly disappointing to know that someone has deliberately caused this wilful destruction but we are pleased to report that damages will be rectified and repaired swiftly."
