All is forgiven with Jong, says Roughead

BULLDOGS vice-captain Jordan Roughead says he had no issue with teammate Lin Jong’s meet and greet with Collingwood, which was revealed this week.

Jong has been at the centre of controversy since it was revealed the out-of-contract midfielder had toured the Magpies’ facilities.

Hardly giving him the cold shoulder at training this week, Jong was instead “embraced” by the Bulldogs, says Roughead.

“We all want to play with Lin and we’ve got 100% trust in running out with him this weekend,” the ruckman told SEN radio.

“I think it’s a little bit naive to think that players aren’t at least having conversations with clubs, and trying to secure themselves a future during the season.

“If you wait until September to try and find a spot on a list, you’re putting additional pressure on yourself.

“It’s not often that you hear about players going into another club’s facility, but you hear stories about guys catching up for a coffee with other clubs and that sort of thing.”

Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge also had no issue with playing Jong, including him in the team to play Richmond tonight at Etihad Stadium.

Marcus Adams (foot) and Will Minson (omitted) have gone out of the side that beat the Swans last week, replaced by Fletcher Roberts and Koby Stevens.

Resigned to missing the finals, the Tigers (6-8) are aiming to at least “shape the finals”, says midfielder Anthony Miles.

Richmond is also looking to its own long-term future. The side will unveil debutant Oleg Markov, while Liam McBean and Jason Castagna come in for their third games.
