Akmal Saleh brings humour to stage at fundraiser ball
AUSTRALIA'S only Egyptian comedian, Akmal Saleh, is heading our way to headline the Sony Foundation's Winter Ball at Opal Cove Resort.
From movies to stand-up, TV and talk shows, Akmal is one of the country's most accomplished comics who draws on his ethnicity and his arrival in Australia 30 years ago.
"My parents didn't tell us where we were going," Akmal said.
"We thought it was two hours away.
"Twenty hours later, we got off a plane. We were on another planet!"
Joining Akmal will be Rhydian and the Residuals (Jazz & Swing band).
The evening features a champagne reception, a three-course meal, a gift for all guests and an array of prizes to be won.
All money will go towards hosting a four-day camp in Coffs Harbour for children with special needs involving Year 11 and 12 students acting as carers and mentors.
Tickets for the Saturday, July 19, ball are available from Parrys Jewellers and http://www.stickytickets.com.au.
