Airport service open for rally

COMPETING rally teams will get their first look and feel for the challenging Coffs Coast tracks, with reconnaissance to start today.

Teams contesting the World Rally Championship event, the ARC Forest Rally and the Coffs Coast Classic Rally, will have the opportunity to drive the stages and prepare their notes.

The Rally Australia service park at the Coffs Harbour Regional Airport has meantime become a hive of activity.

The World Rally Championship's Ford and Citroen teams have set up camp and the world-class drivers have followed.

Rally Australia Service Park manager Paul Woodward said the 'rally city' will open to the public on Thursday.

"There rally enthusiasts will have the opportunity to see the world rally crews preparing the vehicles for the super special stage on Thursday evening," Mr Woodward said.

The opening stage will follow the Rally Show in the Coffs Harbour City Centre, which all of the WRC drivers and navigators will attend from 4.30pm.
