Ace wins motor race championship

LOCAL motor sport ace Cas Galjaardt has defended his New South Wales Historic Championship.

Racing at Oran Park on its final day as a racing venue, Galjaardt wrapped up back-to-back titles after battling for overall class honours against closest rivals John Pymble and Steve Weller.

Driving his bright yellow 1983 Ellyn 004 Formula Ford, the Bonville-based racer finished second in the final race for the class, working himself into first position outright.

Final results also pushed him from second to leader in the Larder series.

This weekend, Galjaardt and wife Sue – the team manager – will head to Eastern Creek Raceway for the last Historic meeting of the year.
