Accident victim loses life

A DORRIGO woman has lost her fight for life after a smash near her hometown at the weekend.

The 66-year-old was driving her Honda Jazz west on Waterfall Way about 10km west of Dorrigo at 9.50am on Saturday when an oncoming Ford ute, driven by a Dorrigo man, 26, crossed to the wrong side of the road.

Both drivers were trapped in their wrecks and the woman was taken with serious injuries to Coffs Harbour Health Campus. She died from those injuries on Monday night, police said.

The other driver was treated for minor injuries and released from hospital on Sunday. Passengers from each vehicle were also assessed at the scene.

Police are continuing their investigations and will prepare a report for the coroner. Investigators were yesterday not releasing the name of the dead woman until all relatives had been informed.
