Skinner at home in new role

JASON Skinner is the Coffs Coast’s new Aboriginal extension project officer.

North Coast Indigenous Services and Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare have joined forces to implement the Aboriginal Natural Resource Management Extension Project for the Coffs Harbour and Bellingen area.

Mr Skinner is a proud Gumbayngirr man who has recently returned home from Sydney and is looking forward to assisting and supporting the development of indigenous NRM projects in the area.

In his new role he will be working with the community and stakeholder groups to bring together people interested in the development and implementation of Aboriginal NRM projects and activities.

This project has been funded through the Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority and will also be supported by Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare.

Mr Skinner’s position is based in the Coffs Landcare office and it is hoped this collaboration will lead to the development of more jointly-run projects.

“We see this not only as a great opportunity for us to support each other’s projects, but also for us to learn from each other and develop better projects in the future,” the community support officer for Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare Inc. Craig Stehn said.

Mr Skinner will be in the Coffs Landcare office in Monterey Arcade, 100 Harbour Drive, on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and can be contacted on 0438 048 763.
