A time to celebrate our seniors

LOCALS are being encouraged to celebrate the huge contribution our seniors make to the Coffs Coast as the 2016 NSW Seniors Festival continues.

The festival, running until Sunday, recognises the important contribution our seniors make to their communities.

"Our seniors enrich the local community and this year's theme, Grow Young, encourages them to share their stories and inspire others to continue learning and growing," Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser said.

"From cooking demonstrations to a number of concerts, there is something for everyone and I encourage people to take advantage of the wonderful activities throughout the festival."

Minister for Ageing John Ajaka said the 2016 NSW Seniors Festival encourages seniors to engage with their community and live life to the fullest.

"Each year, the NSW Seniors Festival acknowledges the tremendous contribution made by older Australians, and I encourage everyone to join in celebrating the contribution they make," Mr Ajaka said.

Now in its 59th year, NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for seniors in the southern hemisphere, with over 300,000 people taking part in more than 1000 free and discounted events across the state.
