Blooming success for Coffs florist

THE fine art of flower arranging is a labour of love for Coffs Harbour florists Johanna Byrne and Jeanette Clewett.

They headed to the recent Royal Easter Show for the NSW Interflora Rising Stars competition where Johanna romped home second.

“This was the first competition I’ve ever been in,” said Johanna, who works with Jeanette at Park Avenue Florist.

“I was nervous and shaking.”

Two judges had the task of choosing winners from an impressive field of entrants, who had to shine in criteria including lines, harmony, colour and groupings.

Competitors had two hours to create their masterpieces based on the theme Winners’ Circle – a basket of wine and flowers to be presented to the winners of a fashion parade.
