Day on the board brings smiles

THE Mid North Coast branch of the Disabled Surfers Association has issued a call for surfers and people living with disabilities to get involved in its Let's Go Surfing Days.

The first event for the season will be held at Jetty Beach, Coffs Harbour next Saturday.

Mid North Coast branch vice president Cliff Lloyd said the sole aim of the day is to put ‘smiles on dials' of disabled participants.

“The numbers of volunteers and disabled participants continue to grow each summer and the branch is hoping to maintain that momentum into this summer,” Mr Lloyd said.

Volunteers, don't have to be experienced surfers to help out.

Participants will meet on the front lawn outside the yacht club on the day.

Sign-on for volunteers is 9am before three hours of surfing to 12.30pm.

A barbecue lunch will also be held at the end of the session, with a host of prizes given out.

Let's Go Surfing Days will also be held at Woolgoolga on November 13, Jetty Beach on January 8 and Scotts Head on March 5.
