A classic ballet adapted to the theatre
IT HAS been 126-years since The Sleeping Beauty was first awoken by her prince in the ballet made famous by composer Tchaikovsky and choreographer Marius Petipa.
Talented performers from the Julie Ross Dance Studio will on Sunday grace the boards of the Jetty Memorial Theatre for two shows in a modern take on the classic.
"The choreography has been adapted to suit the students to the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky,” Ballet teacher Terri Maher said.
"We are really excited to be performing at the Jetty Theatre.
"It will be great to give the students the opportunity and experience to perform on a stage with wings on the side in the grand atnmopshere of a theatre.
Two shows will play tomorrow at 2pm and 7pm.
Opening the shows will be the Toyland, junior school performers from Julie Ross Dance Studio.
