FEW small businesses boast a 100-year history, but Brand's Pharmacy in Lismore has stood the test of time.

Bought by the Brand family in 1915, the Molesworth St business has retained elderly customers who have remained loyal to the pharmacy their entire lives.

Greg Brand, owner of 40 years and pharmacist at the business, said he serves seniors who first entered Brand's as small children.

"I had a woman come in this morning, for example, who was first brought into the shop in a stroller. She's well and truly in her 80s now," he said.

"She used to get jellybeans over the counter and she's been a loyal customer ever since. I like to think we're doing something right. We've got a lot of customers like this, some beautiful people that come in - we're very fortunate."

Mr Brand and his 32-year-old daughter Helen, also a pharmacist, are part of a long line of family members who entered the profession.

"I was definitely proud to see Helen become a pharmacist. It's been fantastic being able to work with her ... and she still talks to me at the end of the day," he joked.

Mr Brand said the pharmaceuticals industry had changed dramatically.
