A LATE scheduling change by Racing NSW has meant that Coffs Harbour Racing Club will be holding an extra race meeting in 2010.
It was announced earlier in the week that Coffs Harbour’s traditional Easter Cup picnic meeting on Easter Saturday was to be scrapped this year and replaced by a TAB meeting to be held on Saturday, June 5.
In a pleasing piece of news, the Coffs Harbour Racing Club was advised on Thursday afternoon that the club will now be holding both race days.
Club CEO Russ Atkinson said that the latest decision is a real bonus for racegoers in the area.
“The Coffs Harbour community will now benefit by having their traditional family day on Easter Saturday with all the live telecast action of the Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens,” Atkinson said.
“We will also have the additional bonus of the race day on Saturday, June 5, with our ‘Winter Cup’ as a prelude to our Gold Cup carnival of racing in July and August.”
Racing Club staff are now working feverishly to have all facilities ready for next Saturday’s five-race family program which will include free entry and entertainment for the kids including a jumping castle and games, full TAB and bookies services as well as live telecasts of all the action at Rosehill Gardens for the 2010 AAMI Golden Slipper.
