Rescue after teen falls from horse

A TEENAGER is being treated at hospital after she fell from a horse at Valery.

An ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics were called about noon when the 17-year-old lost her balance and struck her head while riding with a group on forest trails.

A doctor who was with the group rendered first aid while waiting for the paramedics to arrive.

The Urunga SES had to be called in to carry the girl to safety due to the rugged terrain at the scene of the accident in Pine Creek State Forest.

The rider was taken in a stable condition to Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
