Online services hub launched for disabled people in regions

AUSTRALIANS living with a disability will have access to a new online services hub which offers a secure platform for people in regional and remote areas to access information, online therapy and support.

Online Inclusion, which was launched on Monday, will be one of the most up-to-date collective approaches to providing information and resources on disability in Australia.

Lifestart, the disability support organisation behind the new service, claims the service will be especially beneficial for people with a disability who are isolated and concerned about where to go for information.

Lifestart chairman Bruce Corlett said more than 65 organisations from across Australia have partnered with the project.

He said Online Inclusion would also provide other services including social networking, chat opportunities, a creative resource centre, online therapy and record management.

"One in five people in Australia live with a disability," he said.

"A driving motivation for Online Inclusion is to make the journey to finding information and support easier for those who are isolated in remote areas or confused about support options."

Lifestart CEO Suzanne Becker said the initiative would empower people to make better informed decisions about their support options.

"Whether you are a person living with a disability, family member, carer or a person working in the field, Online Inclusions can provide support, access, online group sessions and much more," she said.

"Our aim is to ensure that people living with a disability can be included in all types of activities, work and community events."
