Man charged over shooting at Nambucca Heads

A MAN has been charged after he allegedly shot a man on the Coffs Coast. 

On Sunday, November 6 police were called to Raleigh Street, Nambucca Heads, after reports of an alleged shooting around 12.30am.

Officers from Mid North Coast Local Area Command attended and located a 21-year-old man outside a unit block with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a stable condition and has since been released.

A crime scene was established and examined by forensic specialists.

Officers from Mid North Coast Local Area Command have been investigating the incident and established Strike Force Clavering.

Following inquiries, yesterday around 1.50pm,  a 22-year-old man was arrested outside a home on Elrington Avenue, West Kempsey.

He was taken to Kempsey Police Station, where he was charged with discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.

The man was refused bail, and will appear at Port Macquarie Bail Court this morning.
