Man accused of abusing girl at scout camp charged

CHILD exploitation charges have been laid against an accused online predator who allegedly sexually assaulted a girl at a Grafton scout camp.

The 40-year-old's computer and other electronic items had been sent away for forensic testing following his arrest and subsequent search of a South Grafton property in January.

Police allegedly discovered evidence of child abuse material and footage of children aged under 16 engaged in private acts.

The man now faces a total of 15 charges including indecent assault, possessing child abuse material, filming person in private act without consent and grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity.

He will remain on bail until his next court appearance on July 7.

The investigation has prompted police to bring home the importance of the squad's efforts to educate parents about the dangers lurking online.
