Mad hats helps Pinefest Ambassador entrant top up funds

YEPPOON RSL Sub-branch became a hive of activity over the weekend when Pinefest Ambassador entrant Anna Durbridge held a Mad Hatters Party to raise funds and awareness of the RSL's much-needed renovation.

While having fun and raising funds were the order of the day, Anna said one of the important things in the renovation was the installation of all-ability amenities so everyone could access the facility.

"This is a lovely venue and I hope through raising awareness for the facility and encouraging the community to support the renovations, the RSL can soon begin the work that will enable greater access for the whole community," Anna said.

Yeppoon RSL president Wayne Carter said the renovation would include a new kitchen, installation of all-ability toilets, new roof, office, larger cold room, extended deck and replaced flooring.

"We have the completed plans on view at the RSL for anyone interested in having a look," Mr Carter said.

"At this point, we have now put the plans out to tender to ascertain the costs of the renovation."

Mr Carter said the RSL was now seeking funding to assist with the renovations and welcomed anyone or any business interested in assisting with sponsorship.
