Community gathers for Coff housewarming

IT was the housewarming that Coffs built, as hundreds of volunteers from the Coffs Harbour community gathered to help Al and Julie McCabe celebrate the completion of The House That Coffs Built.

Al and Julie were presented with the keys to their new home, which was designed to accommodate Al, who has been a quadriplegic since 2002.

More than a hundred sponsors from bricklayers to gas fitters donated their time and effort over the last year and a half to construct the specially designed house, and all were on hand to join in the housewarming celebration on Saturday night.

Julie McCabe said her family is lucky to be part of such a remarkable, giving community. “Our house will always be open to you,” Mrs McCabe said.
