600 Coles workers go on strike

AROUND 600 workers at one of Coles' national distribution centres have walked off the job indefinitely.

The striking workers at the centre in Melbourne's north set up a picket line this morning.

The workers have threatened to stop trucks from entering or leaving the building in protest at the outsourcing of their warehouse.

They also say Coles has refused to offer the same conditions offered to other workers across the country.

NUW state secretary Tim Kennedy said the workers were forced to take the strike action after Toll Holdings, which provides and manages labour for the Coles warehouse, refused to budge on negotiations.
