4WD show revs up

MORE than 70 caravans will roll onto the Coffs Harbour Racecourse this weekend.

The 2010 Coffs Coast 4WD, Caravan, Camping and Boat Show organiser Peter Grimmond expects more than $2 million will be spent on caravans alone.

“In all, I would anticipate that around four to five million dollars worth of sales could be made at the show,” Mr Grimmond said.

“This show brings significant financial benefit to Coffs Harbour, a recent survey of exhibitors showed that they will spend around $120,000 on accommodation, meals, shopping and fuel, plus the sales made by local businesses.”

This year marks the seventh annual staging of the event and it is set to be the biggest yet.

“The Caravan, Motorhome & Camper Trailer Sections have been sold out for several months. There will be 70 caravans and motorhomes, 50 camper trailers, huge range of boats, 4WD and camping accessories, great holiday ideas in the Short Breaks Pavilion,” Mr Grimmond said.

Rain last year kept numbers down but Mr Grimmond is hoping to beat the record of 11,000 attendees in 2005.

The 2010 Coffs Coast 4WD, Caravan, Camping and Boat Show will be a great day out for the whole family and the gates at Coffs Harbour Racing Club will be open from 10am to 4pm daily. Cost is $10 for adults, $8 concession, $5 for students and $25 for a family (2 adults & up to 4 kids).
