NSW fourball at Bonville

THE sureshotgps NSW men's fourball championship has reached its final stage with 38 pairs battling for supremacy at Bonville Golf Resort this week.

Almost 20,000 players from over 250 clubs have played qualifying rounds since January and after district play-offs, it's now down to 19 metropolitan and 19 country pairs in today's state final.

Christy Collier, events manager of the NSW Golf Association, reports that from local North Coast clubs, a team from Woolgoolga comprising Scott Parker and Gary Stuckey and another from Harrington Waters made up of Craig Emerton and Graham Nelson, are taking part.

“The pairs playing in the final of this tournament have had an amazing journey, from qualifiers at the start of the year, to making it right through to the final,” she said.

“It's a real achievement and the event is so much more than just about golf as finalists enjoy the hospitality of Bonville Golf Resort with accommodation, food and beverage, presentation dinners and great prize packs provided,” she said.

Format is a 36-hole stableford with both rounds added together to determine winners.

Bonville general manager Brad Daymond said that the event came about thanks to some help from Coffs Harbour City Council.

“We received financial support through Coffs Coast Marketing to assist us in the bid,” he said.
