2017 Nissan Pathfinder revealed area of Australian arrival

ENHANCED safety, a freshened exterior and a more powerful engine is the big story for the spruced up Nissan Pathfinder.

Available here in both front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive guise, the Pathfinder is a firm favourite with Australian buyers.

The 3.5-litre V6 engine benefits from a new direct-injection system that offers not only more power and torque but better fuel economy and emissions performance too.

“The Nissan Pathfinder has an amazing heritage as one of the modern pioneers in the SUV segment, with more than 30 years in the marketplace, yet we are always looking forward – as the Pathfinder name implies,” said Michael Bunce, vice president of Product Planning, Nissan North America.

“For 2017, Pathfinder receives much more than your typical facelift. It now offers more power, improved driving dynamics and new available driver assistance features – more of what you need for safe, comfortable everyday and weekend family adventures.”

Popular with adventure seekers and families alike, the new Pathfinder now sports more refined and aerodynamic styling with a funky V-Motion grille, boomerang-shaped headlights and LED daytime running lights.

Integrated turn signals, new rear tail lights and stronger bumpers also feature amongst the exterior changes with a motion-activated tailgate with memory function probably the highlight here.

Changes to the interior embrace convenience and connectivity, the most impressive of which is the adoption of new-generation information technology which now allows the driver to access additional infotainment and driver assistance displays in the space between the speedo and tachometer.

The NissanConnectTM system brings better smartphone connectivity, voice recognition has been enhanced and the cupholders have even been reshaped to accommodate mug handles.

While all these features are bound to make for a better Pathfinder, it is the extra nod to safety that is the most pleasing. Apart from an advanced airbag system and the traction and dynamic control features, the incoming SUV also offers advanced driver assistance technology including forward emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert and around view monitor with moving object alerts.

The new Pathfinder will be available here early next year.
