2012 Community Action Grants

A VARIETY of outstanding community groups based in the Cowper electorate have been awarded grants by the Federal Labor Government.

Duty Senator Matt Thistlethwaite made the announcement and when congratulating the groups on their success said the funding recognised a considerable amount of hard work being performed throughout Cowper.

"This funding will help continue the good work these local groups and individuals are doing every day," he said.

"This government funding is given to people who know exactly where it's needed and who will see projects through to the end, making a real difference to their local environment."

Community Action Grants are helping regional, urban and Indigenous community groups across Australia adopt sustainable land management practices and protect the environment.

Senator Thistlethwaite said Federal Labor is committed to natural resource management with more than $2.4 million invested in 142 Landcare projects.
