2009 Headspace projects

TRAINING workshops, a conference on substance abuse by young people, and psychologists' visits are some of the projects Headspace Mid North Coast is running this year.

Headspace is a place where young people can get help for issues including mental health and drug and alcohol problems.

Over the next six months, headspace MNC activities include Heads Up, a youth friendly conference about mental health and substance abuse and its effects on young people.

The conference is for young people, their families, GPs, allied health workers and community workers, and will be held at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus on March 21.

Two education and training opportunities for GPs, health workers and staff in services working with young people will be held in May, looking at motivational interviewing and behaviour change techniques.

Regular weekly GP clinics and appointments with psychologists for young people are held in Nambucca, Coffs Harbour, Bellingen and Dorrigo as well.

Headspace MNC also provides outreach support to young people who can't get to their centres.

For more information, contact you local headspace centre on Nambucca 65687777, Coffs Harbour 66527379 or Bellingen on 66552133.
