130 arrested, none dead at Brisbane's Stereosonic

POLICE from the Brisbane District, both plain clothes and uniformed officers, as well as drug detection dogs, conducted patrols at Stereosonic concert on the weekend with police charging 14 people inside the Bowen Hills venue with various drug related offences.

Two 20-year-old men from Noosa were given fines for public nuisance after they allegedly tried to climb on to the roof of a building.

They were among nine people either charged or fined at the dance music festival.

Acting Superintendent Peter Aitken, Brisbane District, said police focused on criminal activity, such as the possession and supply of dangerous drugs, as well as prioritising the wellbeing of concert goers with a number of people referred to first aid providers under the 'If someone doesn't look right, they probably aren't' strategy.

Police operations for the event included patrols external to the venue by officers from local Criminal Investigation branches and Tactical Crime squads, with police arresting 116 people on 144 charges.

Of these, 125 were drug related charges, with five offenders charged with the supply of dangerous drugs.

Officers located between 30 and 100 MDMA pills, as well as cash, on some of those charged.
