$1.1 million training centre opened at Orara High School

STUDENTS at Coffs Harbour's Orara High School will be able to gain career experience after the opening of a trade training centre.

The Nationals Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, officially opened the centre built with the help of a grant worth almost $1.1 million.

Mr Hartsuyker said the training centre represented an opportunity for students and businesses in the hospitality sector.

"There are ongoing skills shortages in many parts of the hospitality industry and this new facility will provide more choice and opportunity for students who wish to pursue a career in the sector," Mr Hartsuyker said.

"The stand alone facility includes an existing teaching space refurbished to provide a commercial kitchen, as well as a relocated classroom, teaching space and staff common room."

Mr Hartsuyker said the Orara High School TTC is an example of the community putting students first.
