THE inspiration for Gold Coast producer Monique Cribb’s next project came to her in a dream: to honour the musical legacy of the “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin. Her show R.E.S.P.E.C.T. – the earth-shattering Aretha experience – is delightfully heartwarming, humorous and uplifting, and journeys through Aretha’s courageous life of love, tragedy and triumph. Helping to tell Aretha’s incredible story is Angie Narayan, joined on stage by Sean Ikin as her brother Cecil, Asabi Goodman as her sister Erma and Shelley Davies as her other sister Carolyn, together with a five-piece band.

RHYDIAN Lewis and his band the Residuals have created World On a String: The Ultimate Bublé Experience with a Touch of Christmas. THE Maroochy Jazz and Blues Collective’s Jazz N Blues Sunday Session will feature Nicole Parker-Brown and the Jazz Kings. The Jazz Kings are an experienced mix of popular musicians from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Parker-Brown is a most sought-after performer in her own right, who has been singing jazz and blues most of her life. She has travelled extensively in Europe and the UK following the jazz and blues scene and returned home to the Gold Coast where she has made her mark with her “kitschy-bluesy-jazzy-groovy” style. Her repertoire is inspired by Nina Simone, Bessie Smith, Diana Krall and Ella Fitzgerald.
