BUDDING philanthropists from Matthew Flinders Anglican College and Sunshine Coast Grammar School have joined forces to present Disney's Academy Award-winning film Moana (G) as part of a Community Youth Movie Night. The movie night will have family-friendly activities including face painting, sack races and prizes for best dressed before the film starts at sundown (5.30pm).

2. Swap meet and classic car display

SUNSHINE Coast Antique Car Club Swap Meet and Classic Car Display returns to Nambour for its 30th anniversary with treasures and bargains on offer. As well as beautiful cars on display, see antiques, bric-a-brac, old wares, a good range of food, housewares and produce stores as well as an enormous range of car parts (new and old) and suppliers of almost everything you need to restore a car or to get it on the road.

THE annual SCAG Soup N Soul exhibition and sales event allows visitors to select a hand-made soup bowl for $10 and fill it with a choice of home-made soup with some crusty bread (keep the bowl). Members have put together a diverse collection of their work for your pleasure and for sale. Pottery, paintings, drawings and sewing are on offer, with music to soothe the soul.

5. Sunshine Coast Concert Band event

THE Sunshine Coast Concert Band is a voluntary community band under the direction of Ken Chadwick. The band usually has 35 to 40 musicians, ranging from teens to seniors, in the traditional concert band format. Funds from this concert are going to the Coolum Chaplaincy.

THIS show is described by critics as "the closest thing you'll get to the Brothers”, with a slick performance that has audiences reliving an evening of nostalgia, with the wonderful music and soaring harmonies that made The Everly Brothers so famous. The show features just some of the 750 songs that The Everly Brothers recorded, including many of their hits such as Walk Right Back, Cathy's Clown, Dream, Claudette, Cryin' In The Rain, Bye Bye Love, Love Hurts and Wake Up Little Susie. You will also hear some of their country recordings, rock'n'roll songs, and ballads.

FEATURING award-winning poet Gabriella Salmon, just back from a European tour, this is your chance to perhaps become Australia's next poetry slam champion. Poets will compete for the Sunshine Coast crown with the top two poets going on to Queensland Poetry Festival's poetry slam championships at Brisbane's Judith Wright Centre on August 26 and possibly the Australian Poetry Slam national titles in Sydney in September.
