0.8C? We better stay in our pyjamas then!
THE children of C&K West Moreton Community Kindergarten at Karrabin were certainly dressed for the weather yesterday.
With the temperature stopping just short of freezing, at 0.8 degrees, pyjamas seemed just the right thing to wear.
But their commonsense dress was also for a good cause - the Pyjama Foundation's Pyjama Day.
Pyjama Foundation founder Bronwyn Sheehan said the day highlighted the value of literacy and raised funds to stop the disadvantage often experienced by foster children.
There are about 39,000 children in foster care in Australia with 92% below the average literacy level by the time they are seven. About 87% don't finish Year 12.
"Pyjamas give such a feeling of comfort - for many people they evoke memories of warm cosy hugs and positive relationship," Ms Sheehan said.
C&K West Moreton Community Kindergarten director of Pre-Prep Carolyn Symonds said Pyjama Day was Friday but the kindy was getting in early before the holidays.
