Off-duty cop accused of biting man's testicles

AN OFF-duty police officer has been arrested in Baltimore after allegedly assaulting a man on Cinco de Mayo.

Anne Arundel County cop Michael Flaig, 31, was arrested after allegedly biting another man's testicles during a back-alley fight over a woman, WBAL reported.

Police learned that Mr Flaig and an unidentified assailant jumped the victim outside Looney's Pub after the victim confronted Mr Flaig for inappropriately touching his female friend and roommate.

When law enforced arrived to the scene, Mr Flaig was found inside the bar with blood covering his shirt.

The second suspect fled the scene and has not been identified.

"Mr Flaig had blood shot eyes, slurred words and a strong odour of (alcohol) coming from his person," police documents stated.

Thomas Bourne, a bystander who broke up the fight, said the victim had initially got the better of his attacker during the fight.

"The bitee actually got the better of him in the fist fight. After we broke them up is when he disclosed he'd been bitten in the testicles," Mr Bourne said.

Anne Arundel County Chief of Police Timothy Altomare called the charges "disturbing" and said his officers should conduct themselves in a professional manner on and off-duty.

"We will cooperate fully with the Baltimore Police Department as they conduct their investigation. At this time, we cannot comment further because for our agency, this is a confidential personnel matter."

Mr Flaig is currently on paid administrative leave following his charges of second-degree assault and public intoxication.
