THE victim of a violent robbery at Centro Toormina expressed relief at news police had taken an alleged offender into custody.
The 40-year-old woman recalled her ordeal, saying she was threatened with a screwdriver after loading groceries into her car on Sunday, February 19 at 3.30pm.
Recalling the ordeal, the woman told of how she was dragged from her car and repeatedly punched and kicked.
"I just kept screaming and screaming for help, it was terrifying; I didn't think I was going to see my son or my husband again."
Knocked to the ground, the woman said her attacker snatched her handbag and again assaulted her as she gave chase.
Just hours after the interview was posted online, the woman and her partner were relieved to hear police had made an arrest.
Coffs Clarence Crime Manager Detective Inspector Cameron Lindsay said a Coffs Harbour man was taken into custody at a house in Urunga on Monday at 9am.
"It is a significant arrest in relation to a very worrying and violent offence," Mr Lindsay said.
He said the man was allegedly found in possession of drugs, believed to be amphetamines, during the arrest. It is understood he committed the crime just days after his release from jail.
The accused man, Tony Danzey, 33, was yesterday refused bail in Coffs Harbour Local Court.
He is charged with armed robbery with an offensive weapon, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, revocation of a parole warrant and possession of a prohibited drug/amphetamines.
