Rangers report assault

WOOLGOOLGA police are investigating a reported assault on two National Parks and Wildlife Service rangers in the town this afternoon.

WOOLGOOLGA police are investigating a reported assault on two National Parks and Wildlife Service rangers this afternoon.

The NPWS office in Coffs Harbour has reported the apparent assault to police, which is believed to have happened outside the Sherwood Nature Reserve just after 3pm. 

Police have been told the rangers were assault by five "extremely intoxicated" men.

Three men left the scene in a vehicle, and the other two on foot.

The extent of the assault is unknown at this stage.

Police say officers are still on scene investigating the incident.
