A WOOLGOOLGA man has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment on two counts of produce, disseminate or possess child pornography.

The sentence includes a non-parole period of eight months.

The legal counsel defending the man has filed appeals against the two matters and they're listed for mention at the Coffs Harbour District Court sittings to commence on April 16. The defendant was granted appeals bail until this time.

The 44 year-old was sentenced in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday.

Police charged the man after he was found in possession of explicit images of children under the age of 16, after an extensive investigation.

Officers acted on information from the public and executed a search warrant on his home in early 2010.

It was alleged that a large amount of child pornography was found on video tapes and a computer hard drive seized from the home.

A second search warrant was also executed by officers at a computer store where the accused's laptop was apparently being repaired at the time.
