Ian Hogbin, his daughter Gretel, granddaughter Coco and family matriarch Barbara Hogbin will serve as ambassadors for the inaugural On Ya Bike Coffs Day.
THE Hogbin family of Coffs Harbour has been named ambassadors of the inaugural 'On Ya Bike Coffs Day'.
Four generations of the family - Barbara Hogbin, her son Ian, his daughter Gretel, and her nearly one-year-old toddler Coco - are the official faces of the day to be held in City Square next Wednesday.
Coffs Harbour City Council's road safety and traffic officer Anne Shearer said the Hogbins are great local advocates for cycling.
"As a family they have been involved in cycling both as a sport and as a means of travel for many, many years," Ms Shearer said.
"Last year, of course, they proved that commitment to cycling in a hugely generous way by funding half the cost of the new Coffs Creek Cycleway.
"The cycleway was only opened last month, but has already proved to be a very popular new facility with the community and visitors," she said.
'On Ya Bike Coffs Day' has been developed to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get on their bikes next Wednesday, October 12.
The previous Ride 2 Work community breakfasts have seen interest grow each year, but the council renamed the event to make sure that everyone - not just workers - know they are welcome to attend.
'On Ya Bike Coffs Day' will include escorted rides north and south of City Square from 7am, and there will be a guided group ride from Toormina Centro Shopping Centre at 6.30am for anyone travelling from the south to the city centre.
A gold coin donation breakfast will be put on by Coffs Harbour Employment Support Services.
