COMBINE two charismatic crews and you get roller rods and hot derby or one great big spectacle for Coffs Harbour.

Hot rods are coming to town this weekend and the Coffs Coast Derby Dolls will be cooking up a feast to feed the many revellers on Saturday at Park Beach HomeBase (outside Repco Auto Parts between 8am and 2pm).

Samantha Bond said the hot rods were doing their Mid North Coast Hotrod Club Lazy Winter Run and the Derby Dolls would be “putting on aprons over their fishnets and safety gear and cooking up a mountain of sausages, steaks, eggs and bacon to feed the hungry masses”.

“You can meet and eat with the Derby Dolls to celebrate the gathering of hot rods and cool wheels,” Ms Bond said.

“Coffs Coast Derby Doll Emily Wiles will also travel down among the hot rod contingent, highlighting the connection between hot rodding and the roller derby sport.”

Ms Bond said both groups were steeped in tradition yet embraced the latest trends.

“Hot rods and roller derby like to roll on alloy wheels with groovy treads.”
