AMATEUR radio operators, interest groups and suppliers from near and far gathered at Coffs Harbour for Radio Expo yesterday.
Radio Expo, the annual hamfest hosted by the Mid North Coast Amateur Radio Group, saw groups with a wide variety of radio and communication interests gather to chat in person rather than over the airwaves, gain information, buy equipment and promote their events and activities.
Among those who travelled to Coffs Harbour to support Radio Expo, the largest event of its kind between Newcastle and Queensland, was inventor and radio designer Jos Hahn, the principal of Synchro Australia.
Mr Hahn's inventions range from flood early-warning systems for farms to camera systems to provide truck drivers with clear vision when reversing.
Organiser Jack Cook said the introduction of a simple exam to allow people to gain their foundation radio licence, which had limited access, was attracting more young people into the field.
