FOUR club swimmers from the Coffs Coast have qualified for a State development meet at the end of the month.

Masie Duff, Georgia Ensbey and Gabby and Luke Marria will be on a learning curve when they compete at the Homebush Aquatic Centre on Sunday, September 26.

Swimming Mid North Coast (SMNC) publicist Tracy Baker said each swimmer had worked hard to earn their place in the touring party.

“This opportunity allows swimmers the chance to compete in the best known swim centre in the world while learning what happens at a state-run swim meet,” she said.

“These four northern-based swimmers were chosen from a group of 28 between nine and 16 years who took part in a D-squad day in Kempsey, held last month.

“All were registered but had not yet qualified for a state event.”

Under the current SMNC program all swimmers are provided with expert coaching from Tony and Heather Hudson and Kim Thurgood with the focus on having fun and being part of a team.

“Swimmers are also provided with education on nutrition, stretching, filling out entry cards and preparation for race day,” Baker added.
