Subdivisions on council's agenda

COFFS Harbour City Council will consider two applications for rural residential subdivisions in the western village of Nana Glen tomorrow.

Council planning staff members are recommending conditional approval of both subdivisions.

One development in Orara Street is for a six-lot community-title subdivision on a 10.4ha site surrounded by grazing land to the north and west; Bucca Bucca creek and the Nana Glen Recreation and Equestrian Centre to the east; and Nana Glen Village to the south.

The site currently contains cattle yards and a small shed and is used mainly for grazing.

The new lots which will be created will range from 5.6 ha to 8200 square metres and the community parcel to be created will include a private access road off an extended Orara Street and existing vegetation, including the riparian zone along Bucca Bucca Creek.

The community parcel of land will be managed by a community association made up of landowners

The second is for a two-lot subdivision including boundary adjustments in Solomon Close and Bucca Road, to the south of Nana Glen village.

This proposal will create two lots of 1211.5 square metres and 1121.9 square metres, both of which will contain an existing dwelling.

The agenda for tomorrow's meeting includes the election of a deputy mayor and new chair people for the council's standing committees on City Services; Land Use, Health and Development and Corporate Business.

The council's current practice is to appoint a new deputy mayor each year.

Cr Bill Palmer has been Coffs Harbour's deputy mayor for the last 12 months.

Also on the agenda is the selection of a successful tender for the BCU International Stadium lights upgrade.

Coffs Harbour City Council has received tenders from Musco Lighting Australia and Webb Australia Group (NSW) Pty Ltd for the upgrade of BCU Stadium lighting to 1500 lux to enable the venue to host digitally televised sporting events.

In June the council gained almost $2.2 million under the Regional and Local Infrastructure Program for the lights upgrade.

Council staff members said a key component of the tender assessment included a weighting for environmental initiatives and all tenders were required to provide details on environmental initiatives that formed part of the design, development, construction and operation of the facility.
