COFFS Harbour will become the centre of the beauty universe next month.

The Miss Universe Australia 2010 pageant is sashaying into town.

The nationwide search for the next Jennifer Hawkins has begun and the only Miss Universe 2010 Regional New South Wales Preliminary event to be held will be staged at Park Beach Plaza.

“We were looking for a new and exciting way for Park Beach Plaza retailers to showcase the autumn/winter fashion season and to launch the ‘Face of the Carnival’ for the Coffs Harbour VB Gold Cup,” Marketing Manager of Park Beach Plaza Caroline Bleechmore said.

“The team from Miss Universe Australia were looking for a regional centre capable of staging their event and the synergy was just there.

“Not only will this be a great event for Park Beach Plaza but also a great event for the Coffs Coast. The timing is perfect, as the event will be held at Park Beach Plaza during the Easter school holidays on April 17 and 18.

“It is a regional event so contestants can come from all over the State but how fantastic would it be to see a Coffs Coast girl become the next Jennifer Hawkins – it’s a great opportunity.”

In addition to the Regional NSW Miss Universe Australia Preliminary title, the highest ranking Coffs Harbour entrant will win the title of Coffs Harbour V8 Gold Cup ‘Face of the Carnival’, a modelling contract with Park Beach Plaza and other prizes.

The winner and three runners up will go through to the NSW Miss Universe Australia State Finals.

“The Coffs Coast has a name as being one of the most beautiful places in New South Wales so it only makes sense to bring a beauty pageant to a beautiful place,” Deborah Miller National Director Australia of Miss Universe said.

“We’re very excited about coming to Coffs Harbour.

“New South Wales girls are always great contenders so we expect to see Park Beach Plaza explode with a buzz of excitement and the possibility that any one of the contestants attending the Regional NSW Preliminary could be the lucky girl who will be representing Australia in the International Miss Universe pageant.”
