The variable weather conditions over Gallows Beach yesterday will continue into the weekend.
BLINK and you would have missed it but yesterday was the first dry day the Coffs Coast has seen in almost a fortnight – unfortunately, the sun didn’t stick around.
Since February 23 it’s rained every day in the region – except for one lone dry day on March 1 – and it’s not over yet.
“It’s been pretty consistent and it looks like carrying on for a few days yet,” duty observer at the Coffs Harbour Bureau of Meteorology office Roger Brown said.
“We’ve had a high pressure system to the south which we’ve been getting quite a bit of lately and that, with the anti-clockwise movement of air current, is creating an off-shore type of situation where it’s carrying moisture with it.
“This time around though, it’s also associated with a frontal system from up the coast.”
He said the wet weather is set to continue for the weeks ahead and possibly further into next week.
“The pressure system is not moving rapidly so it might still bring some moist air onto the coast for a while yet – more showers are forecast.”
According to the Bureau’s forecasts, we can expect isolated showers with a chance of thunderstorms right through until the weekend, with showers on Saturday and Sunday.
