Crusty Demons cancel Coffs show

NEXT month's scheduled Coffs Harbour leg of the spectacular Crusty Demons motocross tour has been cancelled by the event promoters.

More than 6000 watched the Crusty Demons perform here in 2005.

NEXT month’s scheduled Coffs Harbour leg of the spectacular Crusty Demons motocross tour has been cancelled by the event promoters.

Organisers cited ‘marketing reasons’ in cancelling the event at the BCU International Stadium along with other shows in Albury, Orange and Toowoomba.

It’s believed slow ticket sales, as well as the sheer cost and distance in taking the “Beyond The Apocalypse Tour” to four different States, were also factors in the decision.

Tour promoter Paul Dainty said the cancellations could not be avoided, promising that pre-sold tickets would be refunded.

“Despite our best efforts to keep the Coffs Harbour show part of the tour we were left with too little lead time to effectively market the event to the people of the region,” Mr Dainty said.

“We look forward to working with Coffs Harbour City Council for future tours and hope to bring a huge Crusty Demons show back to BCU International Stadium which is an excellent venue for this kind of event,” he said.

His promotions company, Dainty Consolidated Entertainment, claimed to have cancelled the first half of the tour after market research indicated a lot of people might already have plans for the weekend after Easter.

In making the announcement, promoters vowed shows would still go ahead in Gosford, Bendigo, Bundaberg, Mackay, Cairns, Alice Springs and Darwin.

The cancellation is an unfortunate blow to the Coffs Harbour Council, as managers of the stadium, given the show in 2005 was a sell-out, attracting a crowd of more than 6000 people.

This time around, early ticket sales were said to be ‘good but not great’ even though promoters had factored in Coffs Harbour as a place where a lot of people turn up to events on the day.

Ticket holders should contact TicketDirect for refunds.

Fans will be reimbursed by electronic transfer if they used a credit card, or by a cheque in the mail, if they paid with cash.
