Left anything at the cleaners?

IF you happen to get a little chilly in the months ahead, best hark back to last winter - did you put the doona in for dry-cleaning?

The new owner of Sawtell Dry Cleaners and Laundry, Gail Russell, has found a whole range of items that have been left for dry cleaning over the past three years and never been collected.

Some of them have even been paid for.

As well as evening outfits, dresses, coats and pants, she has at least eight doonas which have been abandoned by householders.

She is hoping a public appeal will see the absent-minded owners come forward but if that does not produce results, she plans to donate all the clothes and bedding to charity.

“Some of them date back to 2007 and quite a few are from early 2009,” Mrs Russell said.

“I will keep them until April and if they have not been collected by then, they will go.

“I thought it was the best way to do something worthwhile with what’s been lieing here.”

Mrs Russell and her husband, Bob, took over Sawtell Dry Cleaning and Laundry at 58 Boronia Street on February 1.

The couple is planning to build up the business and extend trading hours.
