THIEVES have had a field day raiding cars on the Coffs Coast and left behind a trail of destruction.

At Toormina overnight on Saturday they broke into as many as five vehicles.

The intruders stole a wallet and a set of darts from a white Corolla and took wallets from a silver Commodore and a white Commodore all in Shelton Close.

At nearby Platts Close they broke into a white Ford Laser and stole a GPS, cash and a first-aid kit.

In the same neighbourhood at McFadyn Street louts stole two rechargeable torches from a white Ford utility.

Elsewhere, hoodlums smashed a rear canopy on a silver Holden Rodeo in Woolgoolga’s Sunset Avenue sometime between 1am and 2am on Sunday.

A fire extinguisher was hurled through the window of a white Commodore in Coffs Harbour’s Gundagai Street at 2.30am yesterday.

A car was seen fleeing the scene. Police are now forensically examining the fire extinguisher in a bid to track down the culprits.

Would-be thieves hurled a brick through the back windscreen of a Toyota van parked in Coffs Harbour’s Greenlea Crescent between 9.30pm on Sunday and 5.45am yesterday but the intruders fled empty-handed.

Meanwhile, a Nissan four-wheel-drive parked in Cook Street at Bowraville was targeted by vandals at 1.20am on Sunday.
