Knife-wielding robber in custody

A MAN charged over an attempted armed hold-up in Coffs Harbour appeared in court yesterday.

Lincoln Dennis Coombes, 33, of no fixed address, faced Lismore Local Court on charges of assault with intent to rob whilst armed and break, enter and steal.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on March 29.

Police allege Coombes was armed with a knife when he tried to rob the Three Bears Supermarket at Northside Shopping Centre in Park Beach Road on February 3, 2008.

He allegedly threatened and struggled with the 64-year-old shop owner and fled the scene empty handed. Coffs Harbour detectives travelled to Brisbane on Friday and successfully sought his extradition.

Coombes was also interviewed over a break-in at a Coffs Harbour day spa in August, 2007.
