Swallowing blades for world record

NORTH Coast street performer Chayne Hultgren has stunned a live television audience setting another “dry retching” Guinness World Record.

Chayne Hultgren has made a new world record by swallowing 18 blades at the same time.

HE’S swallowed swords, drill bits, neon tubes and even the leg of a bar stool but nothing compares to Space Cowboy’s new world record, inhaling 18 blades at the same time.

The North Coast street performer and Busker’s Festival favorite, Chayne Hultgren, has stunned a live television audience setting another “dry retching” Guinness World Record.

After swallowing the blades, each 72cm long in Sydney, the 31-year-old Byron Bay local said he was thrilled to have made history.

“It’s amazing. I’ve been preparing for this since I was 16,” Hultgren said.

The feat saw him beat his own previous record of 17 swords – also a Guinness World Record – which he set in 2008.

A regular at the Coffs Coast International Buskers Festival, Hultgren explained how magnets inserted under the skin on his breast plate stop the blades piercing his organs.

Space Cowboy’s famed trick here saw him swallow a 60cm, 200 volt neon glass tube, which showed his heart beat as the light shone through his chest.

Since rising to fame a decade ago, he has set seven world records including most swords swallowed, the longest distance pulled with 400kg attached to his eye sockets by fish hooks and the heaviest weight lifted while swallowing a sword.
